A 100+ acre integrated farm, resort, and tech campus planned for East Africa. Uganda preferred -- my homeland. Kenya and Tanzania also under consideration. Target launch 2027-2028. Joint venture with my wife.
Vision
Five integrated zones on a single property:
- Homestead -- personal residence, high-tech self-sufficiency, 100% off-grid living
- Cannabis cultivation -- export to European markets; hemp byproducts feed fashion and food operations
- Wellness spa resort -- high-end yoga and holistic healing (fiancee-led), targeting luxury travelers and wellness tourists
- Tech digifab workshop -- community space teaching coding and product-building using farm-sourced materials; includes custom soil inspection tools and precision agriculture software
- Hemp fashion line -- staff uniforms and consumer products, sold online and at the resort
Cannabis products extend beyond export: infused beverages and food for on-site sustainability and additional revenue.
Country Selection Criteria
Evaluating Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda across:
- Land ownership policies (foreign buyer accessibility)
- Agriculture and export incentives/subsidies
- Tax breaks for foreign investment
- Ease of business registration
- Cannabis/hemp regulatory landscape
Uganda has the personal connection advantage.
Crop Knowledge
Comprehensive crop planning for East Africa hardiness zones 9-13:
- Staples: maize, sorghum, millet, rice, wheat (highlands), barley
- Roots/tubers: cassava, sweet potato, yams, taro, arrowroot
- Legumes: common beans, soybeans, groundnuts, pigeon peas, mung beans
- Fruits: banana, papaya, mango, pineapple, passionfruit, avocado (Hass/Fuerte), macadamia
- Industrial: coffee (highlands), tea, hemp/cannabis, sugarcane, cotton, sunflower
- Herbs/medicinals: lemongrass, African basil, moringa, turmeric, ginger
High-value non-native imports identified: dragon fruit, pomegranate, blueberries (highlands), vanilla, saffron (high-altitude), quinoa, chia, mushrooms (oyster, shiitake -- controlled environment).
Investor Model
Exploring five return structures:
- Equity investment (ownership share)
- Revenue-sharing (percentage of revenue until return multiple met)
- Convertible debt (loan converts to equity at future round)
- Traditional debt (fixed interest)
- Grants and impact investment (social/environmental good, no repayment)
Leaning toward retaining ownership control. Impact investment aligns with the social mission (community tech education, sustainable agriculture).
Revenue Streams
- Cannabis/hemp export to Europe
- Wellness spa resort bookings
- Hemp fashion line (e-commerce + on-site)
- Cannabis-infused food and beverages
- Digifab workshop programs
- Farm produce (local and export)
Status
Long-term vision. Pre-planning phase: crop research, country evaluation, and investor model education in progress.
