Customers
Questions to Consider
Who are they?
What do they want?
How much do they want?
How much are they willing to pay?
Where do your customers meet you (.i.e. farmer's market, chefs, stores, commercial)?
List of potential customers within a radius comfortable driving to to deliver produce
- farmers markets
- restaurants
- organic grocery stores
Set up a meeting with each potential customer (restaurant and vendor) to build relationship and get understanding of demands
From there, you can identify potential crops and then create crop profiles
Competitors
Go to markets
Who are the leaders in the space?
Where do these leaders sell their assets?
What are they selling?
How much of the asset are they selling?
What is it selling for?
When do they sell this asset (seasonal, time of day)?
How does the presentation look?
Who are they serving?
Is the demand higher than the supply, or saturated?
Imported or farm-grown?
Chefs
Are they interested in working with local growers?
What are they looking for throughout the growing season?
Where do they get produce from now?
What are they willing to pay for it?
How many times per week would they like their produce delivered?
Last thing you want is an abundance of crops with nowhere to sell
